Realist “Extreme” Couponing Session 4

Hopefully, you have tried out the local drugstores after the lesson last week.  (If you are just joining us, read session 1 and session 2 also.)  Now, let’s look at how our local grocery stores work. When Harris Teeter first came to our area, we thought they would be way too expensive and we would never shop there.  Their regular prices are a little expensive, but if you use coupons and only shop their sales, they will quickly become your favorite store!  Harris Teeter is in Long Neck, Bethany Beach, and Selbyville/West Fenwick Island.  We also like Safeway (Rehoboth and Dover).  Occasionally, we will shop at Giant (Rehoboth, Long Neck, Millville) and Superfresh (I believe all of their locations in our area closed except Rehoboth).

I know Food Lion and Wal-mart are usually in closer proximity to where you live, but once you see how to shop and get MUCH better quality or much less money at these stores, you will dread the day you need to go in a Food Lion or Wal-mart again!  We usually just time our grocery shopping for when we will be in the area.  Dave works in Georgetown so he is a little closer to Long Neck then and will go to Harris Teeter and/or Giant after work sometimes.  Even though this is a little out-of-the-way, we save so much money it makes it worth it.  We also enjoy going to the beach at least once a week in the spring/summer/fall so we will do Safeway and Superfresh if needed on those days when we are in the area.  Trust me:  it is worth it!

So, here is some information and tips from our experience to help you out with our local grocery stores.

For those that have been doing this for some time: where is your favorite place to grocery shop? Any stores give you great service or any stores that have made it really difficult for you?
